Are you doing all you can to protect your family from the SWINE FLU PANDEMIC???
If you think the danger from the H1N1 virus (swine flu) is over, think again. It’s getting worse. The only way to prevent infection is to avoid contact with the virus.
I believe a layered defense that utilizes state of the art Indoor Air Quality technology is your best defense.
Layer 1 is the UV Air Purifier. There is nothing you can put in your home that is more effective at killing viruses than a duct mounted UV Air Purifier. Not only does kill viruses, it also helps destroy contaminated air particles and bacteria that are cycling through your air conditioning or heating system, 100-150 times per 24 hour period.
This is the same technology that’s proven to reduce infections in operating rooms, that’s why I have one in my home. They say the air in our home is up to 10 times worse than the outside air we breathe. It would be healthier for us to live and sleep outside than in our own homes. The toxins that are released by our furniture, carpet, painted walls, cleaning chemicals and moisture etc. make us sick. Everyone likes that new house or new car smell, but that new smell is actually unhealthy to breathe. Using a UV Air Purifier, the Swine Flu virus can be destroyed before it has a chance to infect you or your family.
Layer 2 is a whole house Media Air Filter. Regular air filters do nothing to keep you healthy; they’re designed to protect your equipment. A media air filter can prevent up to 98% of pollutants from circulating through your home.
Using a Media Air Filter in conjunction with a UV Purifier give you tremendous protection from the harmful particles that are circulating in our homes. Media Filters are rated by a MERV rating, the higher the number the more particles the filter we stop. MERV 10 is the most common, but you can get a filter rated as high as 16. This type of filter usually lasts 6 months to 1 year, depending on the home, pets, amount of people living in the home etc…
Layer 3 is a Whole House Humidifier. One of the most overlooked factors in the spread of viruses is humidity, or lack of it. Your heating system acts as a dehumidifier, and works really well. In fact, it can lower your humidity to unsafe levels. Low humidity is said to be one of the main reasons the flu is more common in the winter.
The optimum range for indoor humidity is between 40-50%. There’s evidence to suggest that as your sinuses dry up due to low humidity levels, you become more susceptible to infections.
Installing a Whole House Humidifier will bring your humidity levels in your home back to normal. That means your family will be more resistant to any bacteria or viruses and will be less likely to pick up the virus during the course of your day to day activities outside your home.

Thanks for the info this is great info on swine flu and my home heating system here in Chicago we get some crazy weather. What brand of air cleaners and UV lights do you suggest and can I install a humidifier that won’t grow mold etc.
I’ve used the Healthy Climate (by Lennox) brand for awhile now. They seem to have the best bang for the buck products, and the UV bulbs seem to last twice as long as the other brands like Honeywell. Now to answer your question about Humidifiers. The answer is NO, all humidifiers with a water panel (filter pad) will collect mold and bacteria. Thats why it’s important to change your humidifier pad every year. Your heating & cooling company will usually have them in stock and sometimes include it with a humidifier cleaning for around $40. Changing the humidifier pad is real important for healthy air in your home.
