Turn Off the Furnace; Fire Up the Stove

November 2nd, 2010

Gas isn’t getting any cheaper. As another winter season approaches, we are all faced with the need to provide heat for our homes. Most homes have furnaces or boilers that are gas powered, and they provide somewhat reliable heat for our families throughout the cold months. The only problem is, by the end of the winter, you have paid an arm and a leg to the utility companies that provided the gas to keep your furnace going. It seems like every year we pay more and more, and there really isn’t much we can do to change this fact. Or is there? » Read more: Turn Off the Furnace; Fire Up the Stove

Use that Unused Space

October 4th, 2010

Many of us look around our homes and think that we have used up all of the space that we have, but few people remember to take a peek up in the attic. Most homes have a plethora of attic space that is going to waste. You may throw a box up there occasionally, but are you really getting the most out of your attic space. You should consider optimizing that space by remodeling. Attics can be transformed into everything from bedrooms to workout rooms. The possibilities are truly endless if you use a little creativity and the help of a contractor.

It is worth the cost?

For most homes, the answer is “yes.” If your attic has adequate space, you can save yourself the trouble of adding on an addition or searching for a new home. Also if the job is done well, it can add value to your home. Suddenly your two bedrooms 1 ½ bathroom home can be a 3 bedrooms 2 ½ bathroom home. That not only entices prospective home-buyers, it also makes your home more livable now for you and your family. However, if your attic is in bad shape or if the space is limited this may not be the perfect place to begin remodeling. » Read more: Use that Unused Space

Think back

November 12th, 2009

Some people dread going to their class reunions. Whether you go or not, it brings back memories. If you go back to High School days, you were usually thinner, faster, stronger, good looking, and so on.

After High School – College, Military, getting a job. You now have a family, children, cars, boats, marriage, houses, wife, ex-wife, girlfriend, jail time, bankruptcy, foreclosure. As you can see, a whole laundry list of things have happened in 20yrs. There are only a few things that remain constant.

Ask yourself what have I purchased in the last 20yrs that is still worth something or is still working.

Give up!!!

YOUR FURNACE

Usually the life expectancy of a furnace is between fifteen to twenty-five years. Through all the changes in your life the furnace is the one item that is constant with you through thick and thin. When looking for an HVAC Contractor to replace your furnace, always look for the contractor who will be with you as long as you have your furnace. As you reminisce over the next 20yrs of the all the changes that have occurred in your life, always remember the ones that stayed constant.
